Dry needling

May 3, 2021

Dry needling is a safe and effective procedure that reduces pain and can treat a number of conditions, including chronic and acute musculoskeletal pain.

It has been shown to promote local healing and pain reduction, while also reducing general pain across the entire body.

The needle used is a thin monofilament needle similar to those used in acupuncture. It is placed into the skin to activate underlying muscular trigger points that reduce symptoms such as cramps and muscle pain.

In podiatry, dry needling is used to alleviate symptoms for a number of conditions:

  • Heel pain/plantar fasciitis
  • Ankle pain and swelling
  • Calf cramps and shin pain
  • Hip and thigh pain due to muscle tightness

If you suffer from chronic foot pain, knee pain and/or calf pain, dry needling could be the key to easing your pain. Here at Dan Everson Podiatry, I specialise in dry needling and will do my best to help lessen any lower limb or foot pain you may be experiencing.
